A spectacular retreat designed for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to cultivate meaningful relationships, learn recreation and art skills, and spend time immersed in nature and community.

ACTIVITIES

  • What is the deadline to sign up for Family Summer Retreat?
    The deadline to sign up, submit all paperwork, and submit payment for either Family Summer Retreat sessions is June 1st, 2020.
  • Are all meals provided?
    Yes! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for all family members are included in the cost for the retreat.
  • Will there be a nurse on-staff?
    No, there will not be a nurse on-staff. It is the family's responsibility to distribute medication. If a family brings a care partner, this care partner will also need to pay the daily retreat fee.
  • I have a dietary restriction. Will I have meal options?
    Yes, we will do our best to accomodate your dietary restriction(s). Please inform us of these restrictions on the Registration Form.
  • How does Session Two work? I notice there are two options, July 15th - 19th or July 17th - 19th."
    Based on a survey we sent out, many families expressed interest in both a 3-day and a 5-day length retreat. Session Two allows you to choose between either a 3-day or 5-day option. We want to accomodate as many families as possible and hope this option allows more families to attend. Please indicate on your Registration Form the specific dates and session you would like to attend.
  • What are the age requirements?
    The age requirement for individuals experiencing developmental disabilities is 14 years old and up. The age requirement for all other family members is 8 years old and up.
  • Do you provide transportation to Tierra Retreat Center?
    No, we do not provide transportation getting to or from Tierra Retreat Center.
  • What will be provided in the retreat cost?
    The cost of the retreat will include lodging, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and all scheduled activities for all family members and care partners.
  • Are there scholarships available?
    Yes, we have a limited number of scholarships avilable. Please email retreat@tierravillage.org for more information.
  • Do you provide transportation to off-site activities?
    No, families are responsible for transportation to off-site activities. These include, but are not limited to, the Leavenworth Swimming Pool, Parents Night Out, Blueberry Picking at Roots.
  • Do you accept DDA Respite Funding?
    Yes, we accept DDA Respite Funding. However, you need to contact your DDA caseworker first. We can accept respite funding for the three-hour Parent Night Out because this is the only activity where parents and care partners will be off-site. During the Parent Night Out, other family members will have a separate activity at Tierra Retreat Center where Tierra staff and volunteers will be present to provide support. Please ask your DDA caseworker if you have respite money and if it can go towards the three-hour activity. Tierra Village will bill for those services when your DDA caseworker puts an authorization into the Provider One system. Contact retreat@tierravillage.org for additional questions.
  • What is the Refund Policy?
    All refunds must be requested by June 12th and will be charged a $75 cancellation fee. All refunds requested after June 12th will require a documented illness or injury and will also be charged a $75 cancellation fee. To submit a refund request, please email retreat@tierravillage.org If a family is impacted by COVID-19 before or after the June 12th cancellation deadline and needs to cancel their reservation, the family will receive a full refund and the cancellation fee will be waived.
  • What is the status of the retreat given the COVID-19 situation?
    At this time, the Summer Family Retreat is currently scheduled to occur as planned. We will follow all recommendations and protocols from government agencies. The safety of all staff, participants, families, and volunteers is the top priority of Tierra Village. Please check back to find updates if the status of the retreat changes. In the event that Tierra Village needs to cancel the Summer Family Retreat due to COVID-19, all families will receive a full refund without a cancellation fee. If a family is impacted by COVID-19 before or after the June 12th cancellation deadline and needs to cancel their reservation, the family will receive a full refund and the cancellation fee will be waived.
